Raider Publishing International – Client-Friendly Publishing Firm
One of the most interesting new stories in the publishing industries right now is Adam Salviani and Raider Publishing. Salviani was an author who helped to co-found the firm with a number of other writers in 2005 in order to create a more client-friendly publishing firm. While traditional publishing firms often take over 90% of the royalties from a book, Raider Publishing is the first firm to ever allow writers to keep over 50% of all royalties.
The genesis for this publishing firm was Adam Salviani’s bad experience with his old publishing firm. Salviani wrote a book that achieved a good deal of success on the market, but because he only received 8% of the profits, he was not able to truly capitalize on the success. Furthermore, one would think that the publishing company would arrange public events for them and pay for the travel expenses involved in marketing the book. However, this was certainly not the case for Adam Salviani. He was forced to make all of his arrangements himself. He traveled to seven countries and two continents promoting the book—all of which he was forced to pay out of his pocket. Salviani simply did not think this was fair at all—why should he be forced to pay for all of the marketing expenses and not collect more than 8% of the reward? It was this incident that lead to the founding of Raider Publishing.
